How to use the Calculator
Keyboard shortcuts
On a computer you can drive the calculator straight from the keyboard. The number keys and the + − × ÷ symbols map to the on-screen buttons, Enter or = gives the result, and Backspace clears the last digit. Working by keyboard is far quicker than clicking when you have a long sum to enter.
Memory keys explained
The memory buttons let you hold a running figure to one side. M+ adds the current value to memory, M− subtracts from it, MR recalls the stored value, and MC clears it. They are handy when you need to total several separate calculations without writing the in-between results down.
How it reads your sum
The calculator works through operations in the order you enter them, so a chained sum is evaluated step by step as you go. When the order matters, work out the bracketed or multiplied part first and feed that result back in.
