How to Find Rhyming Words

Enter any English word and this rhyme finder returns words that rhyme with it — perfect for writing songs, poems, rap lyrics, or creative writing. Results are grouped by rhyme type: perfect rhymes, near rhymes, and end rhymes.

Types of rhymes

  • Perfect rhyme: The vowel sound and all following sounds match exactly (cat/bat, moon/tune)
  • Near rhyme (slant rhyme): A close but imperfect match (done/gone, river/over)
  • End rhyme: The final syllable rhymes (table/stable, collection/connection)
  • Internal rhyme: Rhyming words within the same line of a poem or song

Tips for finding the best rhyme

If the exact word you want doesn't have many perfect rhymes, try searching for a synonym. "Happy" has few rhymes but "joy" rhymes with "boy", "toy", "deploy" and many others. Near rhymes are widely used in modern music and poetry — don't be afraid to use them.

"Cat" and "bat" — same vowel sound and ending consonant sounds.
Words that sound similar but not identical. Common in modern lyrics.
Some words are notoriously hard to rhyme ("orange", "purple"). Try near rhymes or restructure the line.
